Dr. Ashton J. Tharrett was born in Wilmington, North Carolina but grew up in Oswego County. Growing up he spent a lot of time at Fort Ontario playing baseball, which continued until he graduated from Oswego High School. He graduated with an Environmental Biology major from SUNY ESF. Dr. Tharrett was admitted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery degree in 2024 after finishing his clinical training at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital. These clinical rotations ranged from Equine Medicine & Surgery to Small Animal/Exotic Emergency and Critical Care.
Dr. Tharrett worked as an assistant at the Mexico Veterinary Hospital under Dr. King for the 8 years he was completing his DVM degree. He is eager to learn from Dr. Kings orthopedic surgery skills to provide the same level of care that Dr. King has provided for the community over the years. He has a special interest in Equine Medicine from his work in Tennessee. His interests include animal studies and wildlife rehabilitation and is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, fishing and kayaking. Dr. Tharrett also earned the rank of Eagle Scout of Troop 888 based in Oswego.
